FINANCIAL AID AND SUPPORT SYSTEM 

Exemption of Matriculation Fee

In order to support international students with high academic ability but with demonstrated financial need, the University provides financial aid for international students to receive a 100% reduction in Matriculation Fee. Students admitted to the University must submit by the due date a designated application for being exempted of Matriculation Fee of \280,000 (for enrollment in April 2010).

 

Tuition Reduction for International Students

Kyoto Notre Dame University offers a Tuition Reduction System for international students to reduce their financial responsibility and to assist their educational opportunities.

  1. Eligibility
    A full time international student who is privately- financed and has a student visa at the time of enrollment in the University.

  2. Amount of Reduction
    A 30% reduction of annual tuition (\225,000 per year) is applied for each eligible student.

  3. Duration of Award
    One year. The recipient must reapply for the tuition reduction each year.

  4. Application Procedures
    An applicant must submit by the due date a designated application form and a copy of her "Certificate of Alien Registration" to the Office of International Programs at Kyoto Notre Dame University.

Support System for International Students

  1. Academic Advisers
    A full-time faculty member is appointed to be an academic adviser to each international student for her academic support and guidance.

  2. Proxy Application for Immigration
    The Office of International Programs will help international students with various immigration procedures in proxy. As well as obtaining the Certificate of Eligibility for a Status of Residence before entering Japan, the University will provide information for the Extension of Period of Stay, the permission to engage in activities other than approved residence status (Part-time Job Permit), and the Re-entry Permit.

  3. Apartment Guarantor System
    Kyoto Notre Dame University helps international students who need guarantors in lease contracts to rent local apartments by introducing the organizational guarantor system in which the Consortium of Universities in Kyoto will stand as a guarantor for foreign students.

  4. Office of International Programs
    The Office of International Programs provides international students various services and advice to assist their daily lives in Japan.
