About the recording

This recording was made in my car port a little after 18:00 on Friday, 9 June 2006. I used two Rode NT1-A cardioid microphones mounted on a camera tripod in a near-ORTF stereo setup (18cm between mics angled apart at about 100 degrees), a Sound Devices MixPre preamplifier with gain at 11 o'clock, and an Edirol R-1 recorder with line-in set at maximum. The mics faced upward at the swallows' nest, and I turned them slightly toward the inside of the car port. In processing I set a high-pass filter at 80Hz to reduce low frequency traffic noises.
