Texts: Technical
references, standards, and guidelines will be available on the
Web. Texts will reflect current research and best practices.
References: A
reading list will be on the class Web site. Also, students and the
instructor will maintain links to online resources on a social
bookmarking site.
1. General Instructional Objectives (教育目標)
Students will learn how to evaluate and plan information services
for cultural exchange or English language education. We will
emphasize digital collections and metadata for specific purposes
related to students' academic and professional interests.
Evaluation criteria will be based on international standards,
professional guidelines, current best practices, and applied
research.
2. Specific Behavioral Objectives (個別課題)
- Specify criteria for good digital collections.
- Specify data formats for digital object persistence.
- Create appropriate metadata for digital objects.
- Locate, describe, and evaluate relevant resources.
- Plan information services for specific purposes.
3. Learning Strategies (教育・研究の方法)
- Readings will include case studies, standards, and guidelines.
- Class meetings will focus on issues and case studies.
- Participation will include e-mail and social bookmarking.
- Each student will complete a detailed project proposal.
4. Evaluation (評価方法)
Grades: participation (50%) and project proposals (50%).
