1. General Instructional Objectives (教育目標)
This course will help students understand intercultural contact,
appreciate cultural and individual differences, adapt to unfamiliar
situations, and communicate with confidence, empathy, and
integrity.
2. Specific Behavioral Objectives (個別課題)
- Understand identity and affiliation.
- Identify elements of subjective culture.
- Recognize stereotypes and prejudices.
- Appreciate differences between people.
- Manage intercultural anxiety and conflict.
- Articulate important personal values.
- Improve English communication skills.
3. Learning Strategies (教育・学習の方法)
- Each class will include a lecture and writing.
- We will use KNDU e-mail and the Web.
- I will prepare a weekly podcast (audio).
- Students will send e-mail about the podcast.
- Report: a 500-word case study in English.
Class Preparation
- Read next chapter of text.
- Listen to the weekly podcast.
- Send e-mail to the instructor.
4. Evaluation (評価方法)
Participation (attendance, writing, e-mail) 50%, Report 50%.
